Arctic wolf

A large wolf subspecies. It is characterized by a thick, white coat that it retains year-round. It lives and hunts in well-organized packs. Only the alpha pair is permitted to breed, but all members of the pack participate in raising the pups. The pack instinct is extremely strong in Arctic wolves, stronger than in other subspecies. Their harsh habitat, where they often have to adapt to temperatures as low as -50 degrees, reinforces the pack spirit, as a solitary animal could not survive long in this climate.
