Compared to other penguins, it moves well on land as well, hopping from rock to rock to heights where its marine predators cannot reach it. It nests in rocky areas. The clutch consists of two bluish-white eggs, but usually only one chick survives. Both parents take turns incubating the eggs for 35 days. Currently, there are still millions of them, but their numbers are declining drastically due to fishing and global warming.
